Many parents are rightly concerned that their child might not be totally safe when it comes to owning their own phones. With the ways of the modern world and peer pressure among older children and teens the way that it is, it’s almost impossible for a parent not to allow their children to own a mobile phone after incessant begging and they are getting younger and younger when they do eventually get one.
Monitoring My Child’s Text Messages
The benefits, of course, in most cases, outweigh the negatives in that your child is always available at the end of a phone and so knowing where they are at all times and being able to check up on them, and them being able to touch base with you, is easy. However, as any parent will tell you, it is not always plain sailing, and kids, especially in adolescence are prone to being misled, misguided and rebellious. What they get up to via their mobile phones shouldn’t be any of our business (that’s what they’ll tell you) but a parent would be prudent to have a means of checking in on their phone use, especially if they are going through a period when they are getting drawn into things that you might feel are unsavoury, dangerous or profoundly misguided. Indeed, the FBI gives instruction on computer and phone monitoring of our children to help protect them from sexual predators and other online and real life dangers. Here’s where the ability to be able to monitor your child’s text messages and phone calls might come in handy. And the best thing about the software that I’m going to discuss next is that it can be hidden on their phone so they don’t even know that you’re doing it.
Does Cell Phone Spying Software Really Work?
So the big question you’re asking is “do cell spying programs actually work?”. Well, it’s a valid question because not only are there products out there with wild claims that do not live up to the hype, but you need to be careful of even bigger fraud, where you can end up downloading a software package for a phone that simply does nothing – and there’ll be no recourse to a refund because the company behind it is hiding behind some anonymous server in the far East.
Many reputable apps, on the other hand, are valid, working software programs that collect data from most internet-ready makes of mobile phone and will do the job you need done. The company that manufacturers the program are not faceless rogues. They have a valid web presence, are great with customer service and provide a cell phone monitoring service that works well. They also have a full refund policy that they honour to those that are not 100% happy with their product and service.
Using Spy Software to Monitor Your Child’s Cell Phone
These apps have some great features. The way it works is that you firstly need to sign up and pay the one off fee. This is around $50 currently for the basic package (it’s heavily discounted by $100 at the moment so grab it while the price is this low!). The basic package allows you do the following:
- · See all of the text messages / SMS sent to and from the mobile phone (even if they are immediately deleted)
- · See all photos and pictures sent and received by the cell phone
- · See the whereabouts of the phone (and therefore your child) by using a Google maps interface and GPS technology
- · See the complete call history including numbers called and incoming, call duration and time of call. It will also show the number that called or was called and tie that in with known contacts in the phone’s address book (if they exist)
- · Monitor URL history from surfing the web
- · Track emails and IMs to and from the phone including most messenger services provided by Android, Blackberry, iPhone etc.
If you opt for the Premium license (at extra cost of around $40 more) you will also have the ability to listen in live to phone conversations via the phone as they happen (or to record them). There is also a remote listening feature which allows you to turn the phone on remotely and listen in to the surroundings, therefore picking up conversations in the phone’s vicinity.
How Does Spy Software Work to Monitor my Child’s Cell Phone?
The way the software works is by you signing up and paying first of all with a valid email address. At this point you will be given a License Key and login credentials for the secure online site where you will pick up all the data from the phone (I.e. text messages, photos, URL history etc.)
You will then need to install the software to the cell phone. It has to be done this way. I’m constantly being asked if there is a way to spy on a cell phone remotely without having to install software or an app to it. This simply is not available to the likes of you and me. We are getting into the realms of Security Services when even thinking about such a thing. No, unfortunately, one of the steps that is necessary to use this kind of software is you have to install it on the target phone. There’s no getting away from this. In order to perform installation you surf to the download site (also given when you sign up) and use the license key. Installation will take a couple of minutes. You should then check delete the phone’s surf history and download history for that URL to cover tracks if you want the software to remain completely hidden with no tell-tale signs left behind. The whole process should only take a couple of minutes. It also, obviously, requires that you know the phone’s lock code or PIN if your child uses one. If you don’t know the PIN you are not going to get very far. That’s why sometimes it might be better to offer your child a new phone (with the tracker already installed!) if you need to get around this and they are careful about not letting you near their cell phone. I know many parents would simply insist on access to the phone, but in this way you can install it totally without them knowing if that is a concern of yours.
Once installation is complete it’s just a matter of signing in to the secure online area provided for you (from any device or anywhere in the world) and you’ll be able to keep tabs on exactly what is going through the phone.
Another question often crops up about the legality of doing this. If the child is your responsibility and you are paying for or paid for the phone then you have nothing to worry about in most jurisdictions. Indeed, this is just responsible parenting. So, if you need to monitor your child’s phone, this is probably the easiest and cheapest method out there. Other services will charge monthly fees or cost a heck of a lot more to get the variety of features that this gives you with a one off payment so I’d suggest hopping over to the site, check that the software is compatible (it’s compatible with 99% of smart internet phones) and give it a try.
